The American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE) serves as the national academic accreditation agency for college and university programs in Funeral Service and Mortuary Science Education. ABFSE is the sole accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation in this field.

Georgia Funeral Directors Association, Inc. is the oldest and largest funeral service professional association in the state. Founded in 1899.

The Georgia Association, which was founded in 1926, was a member of the old National Negro Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association of which the late R.R. Reed was executive secretary. Later when the present National Association was organized, the Georgia Association transferred its membership to the new organization. The Georgia Association is therefore, one of the charter members of the present National Association. The Georgia Association has served as host for the National Association meeting in Atlanta first in 1949, 1968 and current years. The late Henry Ivey of Atlanta, a past president of the Georgia Association at one time served as President of the National Association. Since then Georgia has had two other National Presidents the late W.S. Hutchings of Macon, and G. B. Levett of Scottdale.

The National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) is the worldwide resource and advocate across all facets of funeral service dedicated to high ethical standards and helping members provide meaningful service to families.

The FTC deals with issues that touch the economic life of every American. It is the only federal agency with both consumer protection and competition jurisdiction in broad sectors of the economy. The FTC pursues vigorous and effective law enforcement; advances consumers’ interests by sharing its expertise with federal and state legislatures and U.S. and international government agencies; develops policy and research tools through hearings, workshops, and conferences; and creates practical and plain-language educational programs for consumers and businesses in a global marketplace with constantly changing technologies.

Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service is a non-profit corporation offering post-high school education to men and women interested in funeral service as a career. The central purpose of the college is to give students a thorough acquaintance with those areas of knowledge essential to their specialization. The college is dedicated to the advancement of funeral service education and the funeral service profession.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, OSHA's role is to assure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women; by authorizing enforcement of the standards developed under the Act; by assisting and encouraging the States in their efforts to assure safe and healthful working conditions; by providing for research, information, education, and training in the field of occupational safety and health.

The Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice is committed to providing a voluntary certification program to funeral service practitioners that shows families your commitment to continued exceptional service and life-long learning.

The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards (ICFSEB or "The Conference") is a not-for-profit voluntary association providing examination services, information and regulatory support to funeral service licensing boards and educators, legislators and other regulatory agencies, and the public at large in various states, districts, provinces, jurisdictions and internationally.
